After three and a half years Inspiral Photography’s website was looking a little long in the tooth and was in need of a make-over. I wanted the images to stand out and not be lost amidst lots of text. I knew what I wanted but not having a clue how to code in WordPress, I turned to Will Gill at Stage Four Studios Ltd based in Handforth. Stage Four Ltd and previously Minted Melon Ltd have designed and hosted my site.
Inspiral Photography’s new website concentrates on four separate themes with a main header image backed up by a gallery of smaller ones. Architectural and commercial work lead off. I selected the bridges over the canal basin in Castlefield as the architectural header image. This shot was a finalist in the first RICS UK Infrastructure Photographic Competition and was exhibited in Westminster by the RICS.
I have done a few shoots for Poggenpohl kitchens in Manchester and selected the second header image to represent my commercial work. I really liked the way the light played on the different surfaces in this shot and think it shows off the high quality of these units.
I have travelled extensively through Cornwall and really enjoy photographing the industrial legacy of the tin mining industry juxtaposed with the raw beauty of the rugged coastline. This image taken near Levant on a stormy October day represents my landscape work.
Foreign travel broadens the mind and with over 27,000 readers of my reviews on Tripadvisor, my travel photography is an important aspect of my photography. From photographing hotels to quirky local customs and practices to amazing sunsets my travel photography is headed up with a commercial flight landing on a runway in Greece.
Finally, with the advent of the last year that the last airworthy Avro Vulcan took to the sky, my passion for aviation photography was reignited. An iconic aircraft designed and built just down the road from where I’m based was the perfect subject complete the set of header images for the new website. Seeing it flying with the famous Red Arrows over Southport in September was a magnificent and never to be repeated sight.
I’m particularly pleased that the ‘About me’ has been kept deliberately simple with a list of clients, their logos which act as backlinks to their sites and some kind words. People wanting to know more about my background can follow a hyperlink to my LinkedIn profile. The remaining sections deal with any news, blogs and a contact page complete with Google map.
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about the background, structure and process of developing this new website but more importantly looking at the images selected. If there is anything photographically that I can assist you with then do feel free to drop me a line or give me a call.
